…And a Misogynist

Filed under: Politics, Reproductive Rights — shhville @ 12:24 pm

DAY 72:

On Tuesday the Senate confirmed Bush judicial nominee J. Leon Holmes to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas in a 51-46 vote.

Holmes has written that abortion is akin to the holocaust. He also said that concern for rape victims is a red herring because conceptions from rape occur with approximately the same frequency as snowfall in Miami.

In an article he co-authored with his wife, he said a wife has an obligation "to subordinate herself to her husband" and "to place herself under the authority of the man."

Holmes' judgeship is a lifetime position.

  1. That IS disgusting and infuriating and a very serious subject. I am against one group having to be subordinate to another as a matter of law, tradition, or ideology. However, IT IS appropriate for one individual to be subordinate to another as long as it is not based on ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, socio/economic location, politics or the like. In otherwords Sa-loth, I am still the boss of you and will BEAT YOUR ASS if I catch you blogging one more time today.

  2. I love all the wisdom you share. I couldnt agree with you more, on all of your political posts.
    You ROCK MY WORLD!

-its scarry with all the laci peterson laws what may happen to our right to choose. I was a pregnant teenager and I chose to get married. Im glad I made that choice and it didnt stop me from ending up at Berkeley (as a divorced single mom), but I always woundered where my support was. These pro-lifers put so much time and energy to STOP abortion, yet when women or girls do chose to have a child, they then shame us for living off welfare. Its a sad cycle.

    Luvs ya!

  3. I’m beginning to think that whole “shock and awe” thing was really about Dumbass Dubya. The moron never ceases to amaze me in his elitist, prejudiced, greedy, imcompetent ways. Thanks for all the info, Sloth. Hail to the Chimp!

  4. You know its very sexy to find men like Dastard and Michael who use their minds when it comes to politics. Some of these bloggers and their political rants (can we say TexASS) are so robotic, right-wing wacko. Men with like minds are much, much, sexier…..
