Slow Adventures in Slothville

Updates

1. I got a new apartment. This is mostly good.

Hardwood floors, working fireplace, "breakfast nook," no upstairs neighbors, built-in book shelves, gas stove, shower and bathtub two separate entities, 4 shower heads in tiled shower, French doors in living room. I move in September 1st. Happy Sloth.

Had to give up dishwasher. No laundry in apartment (but is in building). No deck. $1700/month. Not-happy Sloth. But it's either that or move to Dorchester. Yay for Boston housing crisis!

2. I leave for Australia on Friday. After tomorrow will not be blogging until after July 4th. Any last minute advice on bouncing around down under (not the perverted kind) will be appreciated.

3. It is end of fiscal year and I am very very very busy. Must try to control addiction to crack cocaine that is blogging.

4. Just visited a blog called "People Who Deserve a Beatdown" – it is linked in sidebar now. I find it highly enjoyable and wish it was set up for commenting.

5. Will likely update again later because am addicted to crack cocaine that is blogging.

  1. Your site rocks too. I just read the beatdown site yesterday, too! Agree it needs a comment section. Have fun, watch out for dingos!

  2. “Blog” is actually derived from the blogga plant (Erythroxylon blogga). Many peasants had to stomp on blogga leaves before you could enjoy “blogging.”

    Congrats on the Apt.

The attached photo is excellent, just like all the photos you attach which if I am not mistaken are all originals taken by the Sloth’s own bad, mossy-furred, ass self. Everyone go and look at all of Sloth’s photos. Do it now.

  3. Your apartment sounds really nice. I would love to have hardwood floors…french doors too!

Advice on Australia…bring sunscreen? Dunno,I’ve not been there… oh and “look right” when crossing the street…

You could try audioblogging while away? or submitting a post via email? (assuming you’ll have internet…) It might ease the withdrawls…

  4. Anyone who doesn’t give Sloth her due props — be it here or in WallabyLand — deserves a beat-down, or if they’re in the home of Yahoo Serious (remember him? me neither), a beat-down-under.

Have a nice trip. We’ll miss ya.

  5. Sloth you are the best, we will miss your posts. Where will I get all my important information!
-Your new apartment sounds great. Dishwasher, who needs it, especially if you are living alone. Laundry, well that kinda sucks, but gives you an excuse to meet cute guys at the laundramat. (Does that really happen LOL)

  7. Jamie – Thanks! Luckily I have no baby sloths for dingoes to eat so should be a-ok.

Dastard – maybe you are not such a Dastard after all. I know that is the last thing you want to hear.

Janelle – yes, you know what else is good for withdrawals? Valium. Sweet sweet valium. Never fly longer than 4 hours without it.

The best thing about my new apartment (hardwood floors and french doors aside) is that I will no longer have to listen to the crazy assholes who live above me screaming at each other all the time. I wish they would just get divorced already.

Michael – you have been voted resident beatdown provider. (Sorry, Dastard)

Vader – Laundry’s for chumps anyway. Sloths go nekkid. You will rock on without me and when I get back you will have forgotten all about me. Just watch the Daily Show every night at 11 on Comedy Central. It is all the information you need.

Steve – heads up everyone, there’s an optimist in the house. Thanks for stopping by. Maybe I’ll bring you back a wombat.

  8. OMG, $1700/month? No dishwasher? I could live on the beach here for that. But Boston. I’m not in Boston. :)It still sounds like a great place. We miss you.

  9. Yeah, tell me about it. That’s why the operative word in “housing crisis” is CRISIS. No one can afford to live here. All my friends are moving to the “less gentrified” areas just so they can afford their rent. Although, as I am not a barefoot starving orphan wandering the Sudanese desert, I really have no right to complain.

  10. Hi,

Thanks for the photos. Here’s an image of the official poster for the documentary, Row Hard No Excuses.

If you would like to meet a German man who is leaving for the UK from Chatham, travel with us early Wednesday morning. The rower’s name is Andreas Rommel – He is the Desert Fox’s (Irwin Rommel) grandson. He is 34 and living in Switzerland except not for the next 3 months or so…

    Thanks again,

    Bill Wolbach
